Largest Earthquake in 40 Years Rattles Southern Utah

Southern Colorado was shaken early Tuesday morning by the largest earthquake to hit the region in 40 years, a 5.3 magnitude quake.

The 5.3 magnitude quake ties a quake recorded in 1967 in the same area.  Multiple quakes have been recorded through Tuesday morning throughout Southern Colorado.

The epicenter of the earthquake is seven miles southwest of Cokedale, Colorado.  No casualties have been reported at this point.

According the the United States Geological Survey(USGS), the 5.3 magnitude quake was the largest in a series of quakes as of 5:00 a.m. Mountain Time.

The Las Animal County sheriff's office reported to CNN.COM that the quake lasted nearly 30 seconds.  Reports were made of falling rocks onto highways and some damage to buildings.
